Cape Gate Holdings (Pty) is a leading South African manufacturer and distributor of steel, wire and wire-based products. Based in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, the company has grown from a small family-run operation into a major player supplying industries such as agriculture, mining, construction, civil engineering, commerce and international markets.
Field of Study Funded
For the 2026 academic year, Cape Gate is offering funding for:
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) - Chartered Accounting stream
- Funding is available up to honours
The bursary is aimed at first-year students starting university in 2026.
What the bursary covers
Successful applicants may receive funding for:
- Registration and tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Once-off laptop\computer allowance
- Personal allowance
- University residenceaccomodation and meals or a living allowance
Vacation Work & Work-Back Opportunity
- Bursary recipients must complete paid vacation work during the December and January holidays
- After graduation, students may be required to work for Cape Gate
- The work-back period will match the number of years funded
- Employment will be paid at market-related rates and remains at the company's discretion
Duration & Selection
- The bursary is awarded one year at a time
- Renewal is based on academic performance
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interviews
- If no feedback is received, the application should be considered unsuccessful
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Completed Matric in 2025
- Achieved 70% or higher for Mathematics
- Achieved a minimum overall Matric average of 65%
- Intend to study full-time towards a BCom (CA stream)
- Be entering first year of study in 2026
- Be accepted at a recognised South African university
- Demonstrate financial need
- Not receiving any other bursary or financial assistance
