The Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal Bursary 2026 offers financial support to South African students who would like to study in order to have a profession within the building and construction industry. Students who can apply are those studying Built Environment qualifications and facing financial problem. Master Builders Kwazulu-Natal is an employer's organisation that was established in 1901 and comprises more than 700 companies engaged in the construction and building industry within the province of Kwazulu-Natal. The organization is registered under South Africa's Labour Relations Act and plays a significant role in advising and promoting the construction industry. MBKZN offers a wide range of services to its members, including skills training, occuptional health and safety support, labour and legal assistance, employee benefitschemes and business advisory services.

The Master Builder KZN Bursary Programme was founded as an initiative to facilitate the development of much-needed skills in the South African building industry as a whole. The bursary program is aimed at assisting financially eligible students tofinance their studies. The award is to be used for the 2026 academic year and is targeted at students who exhibit academic merit, scholarship and a passion for a career in a construction fiels.

Field of Study Covered

The bursary supports students within the Built Environment, including but not limited to:

  • Apprenticeships
  • National Certificate qualifications
  • Diplomas
  • Degrees
  • Other construction-related qualifications approved by the bursary committe.
Preference is generally given to programmes that are directly linked to the building and construction industry.

Selection Criteria

Applicants are assessed based on several important factors, including:

  • Academic performance
  • Relevance of the chosen field of study to the construction sector
  • Career motivation and commitment
Please note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee funding, as selection is competitive.

Bursary Duration and Renewal

The bursary is offered on a one-year basis. Students who progress satisfactorily will be eligible for renewal of their bursary on each consecutive year. Students of high academic achievement will be eligible to apply for renewal of their bursary.

Eligible Requirements

Preference may be given to:
  • Students from KwaZulu-Natal
  • Students in courses related to building industry
