Fields of Studies
Bursaries will be given for undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral study in the following fields (BSc, BEng, BCom, or BIS):
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Game Design
- Informatics
- Computer and Software Engineering
Coverage Values
The bursary covers expenses such as:
- Tuition Fees
- Monthly Allowance (For living expenses and Incidentals)
In addition to the bursary's financial component, bursars will get guidance and support during their academic careers.
Opportunities
All BBD bursary holders must attend an on-site workshop for one week each year in order to network with other bursars and learn about the BBD culture. Participating in a collaborative project during Vac Week will allow you to leverage the newest technology to develop entertaining yet useful solutions. Throughout the course of the program, students will also be exposed to a range of tools and technologies and obtain practical experience. Students will join the BBD Graduate Program and start working on actual project teams after they graduate.
Eligibility Requiments
Before applying, candidates must meet the following minimal requirements.
- You have to be a citizen of South Africa.
- You have to be enrolled in or have finished your matriculation.
- You must be pursuing or accepted to pursue a degree in one of the aforementioned fields of study (Bachelors, Honours, Masters, or Doctorate).
- You must be enrolled in or accepted to a South African university that is recognised and approved.
- If you are presently enrolled in Matric, you must have earned a minimum overall average of 70%.
- If you are a present student, you must have attained a minimum overall average of 65% for tertiary education.
- You have to have a strong interest in technology and software development.
- Software development must be something you're interested in.

- Identity document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy) or most recent results
- Latest academic records, if you're enrolled in classes right now (on tertiary letterhead)
- Acceptance letter from the university (on tertiary letterhead)
- Curriculum Vitae
- Provide a link to your individual code projects on GitHub or a similar website, if relevant.
