ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER
The American multinational online corporation Amazon.com, which specializes in e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence, owns Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS).
AWS started offering metered pay-as-you-go on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to people, businesses, and governments in 2006. These days, Amazon Web Services offers a very dependable, scalable, and reasonably priced cloud infrastructure platform that supports companies in 190 nations worldwide.
FIELDS COVERED
Bursaries will be provided for studies within the categories that follow, which are related to the technology sector
Undergraduate Degrees:
- Computer Science / Computer Engineering
- Bachelor of Education (specialising in Mathematics and Science)
- Information Technology
- Civil Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Electronic Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor of Commerce (specialising in Accounting and Finance)
Postgraduate (Honours, Masters, Postgraduate Diploma):
- Information Technology, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering
- Bachelor of Commerce with a focus on Finance and Accounting
- Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Air Conditioning, and Civil Engineering
Students with disabilities enrolled in ANY undergraduate or graduate degree will also be eligible to receive bursaries.
BURSARY COVERAGE AND CONTRACT
The two primary criteria for awarding the bursary are financial need and academic merit.
Up to a certain sum, the full cost bursary will cover the following costs: tuition, books, stationery, personal computers, private or residential housing, and subsistence.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Before applying, candidates must meet the following minimal standards; if you don't meet them all, your application won't be taken into consideration.
- You must be a citizen of South Africa.
- You must be enrolled in or have finished your matriculation.
- You must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the aforementioned fields full-time in 2026, or plan to do so.
- You must be enrolled in or plan to enrol in a South African university that is recognized and accredited.
- You must have received at least a 75% in your matriculation in mathematics and physical science.
- You must have received at least 65% in English HL or 70% in English FAL at your matriculation.
- If you are a current student, you must have earned a minimum tertiary overall average of 65%.
- You need to have a solid academic background.
- You must possess the capacity for leadership.
- Students with disabilities will be given preference, but those without disabilities should still apply.

Before applying, students must read theBursary Applications Page.
Together with your online application, send in clear copies of the following supporting material (submitting these documents is required; failing to do so could result in your application being rejected):
- A clear picture of the head and shoulders
- ID document from South Africa (certified copy)
- Final results for Grade 11 and Matric June results, if enrolled in Matric; Matric certificate, if finished Matric
- Complete academic history and most recent findings (progress report or exam results from June 2025)
- Proof of parents' or guardians' household income (including the most recent audited financial statement, three months' worth of bank statements if they own a business, the SASSA letter stating the grants received, if applicable, or the most recent payslips if they are employed, an affidavit if they are unemployed, or an affidavit stating annual income if they are self-employed)
- Death certificates for parents who have passed away
- If parents are separated, an affidavit from the parent stating the amount of child support received, or a letter from the court stating the amount of child support if the parents are divorced
- Evidence of disability, if applicable
