The JSE The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) was established in 1887 after the discovery of gold and is currently Africa’s oldest and largest stock exchange. As the 19th largest exchange in the world by market capitalisation, the JSE offers secure, efficient primary and secondary capital markets across a diverse range of securities.

Point to note: Applicants have a wide field of study options to choose from, including but not limited to the above-mentioned courses/areas.
Eligibility Requirements
The students must meet the following minimum criteria to qualify for funding from the JSE JEF:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Already completed matric
- Full time Student working toward a degree in one of the above fields
- Must be in 2nd, 3rd or Honours in the year of study (2026)
- Studying at the following university:
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Limpopo (UL)
- University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)
- UFS -University of the Free State
- University of Fort Hare (UFH)
- Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
- North-West University (NWU)
- Good academic record (Minimum Second class or equivalent with overall 60%; 55% for SC/ST/PH)
- Combined household income does not exceed R650 000 per annum
- From a designated group and previously disadvantaged background
Documents Required for Acceptance
Along with your application make sure to submit the following certified copies:
- ID document
- Official, complete academic transcript (with most recent grades)
- Proof of university registration
- Proof of household income (most recent payslips, affidavit, grant/pension proof if applicable)
- Proof of residence
- Affidavit confirming accuracy of information
