The Association for Dietetics in South Africa or ADSA, constitutes the major professional organization for registered dietitians serving within the country. Their mission is to support dietitians and promote good nutrition across the communities of South Africa.
The ADSA was established in 1987 as a nonprofit organization after dietitians from all over the country felt the need to have a united body. As from today the ADSA is a national organization that has grown to over a thousand members from eight province of the country: Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Free state.

The ADSA invite students to apply for their 2026 bursary programme.
This Bursary is only available to undergraduates Dietetics students.
ADSA has been assisting students in need, who have the desire to study dietetics but cannot do so due to lack of finances since 2013.

What the ADSA Bursary Covers
The bursary allows for partial financing of up to R30 00 per annum which could be used to cover:
- Registration fees
- Textbooks
- Accommodation
- Other essential study costs
- Work in South Africa for a number of years equal to the number of years you received the bursary (excluding community service and
- Remain an active member of ADSA in your local branch for that same period.
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be studying towards a Dietetics degree
- You must be in your 1st year now, entering 2nd year in 2026
- You must show financial need
- You must have a strong interest in nutrition, health and food science
- You must show leadership or involvement in school\your community
How to Apply
Required documents
- Certified copy of your ID
- Certified copy of your latest academic results (June results if final marks aren't ready)
- A motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
- Certified proof of parents\guardians' income (payslips, affidavit, pension or grant proof, death certificate if applicable)
- Any extra documents that's strengthen your application (reference letters, proof of involvement, etc)
