Gold One is a leading gold-mining company operating across Southern Africa. One of their biggest operations, Gold One New Shelf 1186 (Gedex) is based in Brakpan within the Ekurhuleni Metro. The Mine continues extracting valuable resources from the historic Black Reef mining area.
Fields Covered
Students living in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan area can apply to study in:
- Finance
- Geology \ Earth Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Science
- Mining Engineering
Internal applicants (employees or their dependents) may apply for additional study fields.
Gold One will award:
- 16 bursaries to external applicants
- 15 bursaries to internal applicants
What the bursary pays for
This bursary supports you with:
- Tuition fees
- Examination fees
- Prescribed textbook
- University-managed accommodation (full-time students)
Note: Meals, transport, laptops, data and monthly living costs are NOT covered.
Who can Apply?
For EXTERNAL applicants:
You must be:
- A South African citizen
- Living in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality
- In Matric OR have completed Matric
- Registered or accepted at an accredited SA tertiary institution
- Studying one of the listed fields
- Able to prove financial need
Students from mine-hosting communities (Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, Nigel and nearby townships) will receive preference.
For INTERNAL applicants:
You must be:
- A Gold One employee OR an employee's dependent
- In Matric or have completed Matric
- Registered at a recognised South African higher institution
