The GrandWest Bursary 2026 is an award that financially assists deserving students in the Western Cape who want to study towards an Undergraduate degree in specific disciplines. The bursary is intended to develop young South Africans who were hitherto denied opportunities in socio-economic activities. GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World is currently South Africa's leading destination of choice for leisure and hospitality. This is largely due to its many facilities that include a world-class casino, cinemas, restaurants, ice rinks, conference facilities and accomodation. GrandWest is an establishment of Sun International, which is one of Africa's leading tourism, leisure and gaiming conglomerates. The GrandWest Bursary Fund was launched in 2007 and form part of the Socio-Economic Development Initiatives undertaken by the company to ensure disadvantaged students have access to higher education.
The GrandWest Bursary Programme is offering bursaries to students for the 2026 academic year and is aimed at developing skills for industries related to tourism, business, engineering and economic development. Awards are made on a yearly basis and students are required to reapply every year depending on their grades.

Expenses Covered by the Bursary
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- R5,000 allowance for textbooks
Community Involvement and Renewal
- The bursary does not need to be repaid
- Students are encouraged to participate in community-based projects
- Beneficiaries must submit reports detailing their volunteer activities
- Students must reapply each year, with funding dependent on maintaining satisfactory academic results.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a South African citizen
- Be under 27 years old
- Reside in the Western Cape
- Have completed Matric in South Africa
- Be studying or registered to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification
- Be pursuing a first tertiary qualification
- Be registered at one of the following institution:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of the Western Cape (UWC)
- Stellenbosch University (SU)
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
- Not be carrying subjects from the previous academic yearr
- Not be employed full-time
