Eskom Bursary 2026 South Africa



Eskom is South Africa's main electricity supplier. Founded in 1923, it produces most of the country's power and operates several major power stations, this include Koeberg. The organization is one of the biggest energy utilities in the world and it operate through three main division: Generation, Transmission and Distribution.

Bursary overview

Eskom is offering bursaries for students who want to study in 2026. 138 bursaries are available.

  • 79 bursaries will be prioritised to students who will be studying at the University.
  • 59 bursaries will be awarded to students who will be attending at University of Technology (UoT)

These bursaries aim to support young students who are interested in pursuing engineering careers that are the main pillars to the energy sector.


Fields of Study

University (BEng \ Bsc)

You can apply if you want to study one of the following:

  1. Chemical Engineering
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Computer Engineering
  4. Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  5. Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
  6. Electromechanical \ Mechatronics Engineering
  7. Industrial Engineering
  8. Mechanical Engineering
  9. Metallurgical Engineering

University of Technology (Diploma)

Bursaries are also available for Diploma studies in:

  1. Chemical Engineering
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Computer Engineering
  4. Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  5. Electrical Enginering (Light Current)
  6. Mechanical Engineering

Selection Process

  1. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
  2. If you do not hear anything within 28 days after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
  3. Final decisions will be based on your Matric final results.

Who can Apply?

For University applicants:

You must:

  1. Be South African citizen
  2. Be in Matric this year or already have Matric

Have at least:

  1. Level 4 in English
  2. Level 5 in Pure Mathematics
  3. Level 5 in Physical Science

Plan to study one of the engineering degrees listed above

Have a conditional acceptance from a public university in South Africa

Not be funded by any other bursary

Preferably from an under-represented group according to Eskom equity goals

Students with disability can apply


For University of Technology (UoT) applicants

You must:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Be in Matric or already have Matric

Have at least:

  1. Level 4 in English
  2. Level 4 in Pure Mathematics
  3. Level 4 in Physical Sciences

Plan to study one of the listed engineering diplomas in 2026

Have a conditional acceptance from UoT

Not have any bursary funding

Equity candidates and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply

Documents you must upload

Make sure you upload clear copies of:

  1. Your ID document (certified)
  2. Grade 11 final results and your latest Matric results if you are still in school
  3. Matric certificate if you already ompleted Grade 12 (certified)
  4. Proof of conditional acceptance from the university or university of technology (must be on the institution letterhead)

NB: If any required documents are missing, Eskom may reject your application.


Closing Date

28 November 2025 (extended deadline)

Applications submitted after the closing date will not be considered.
