ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER

In 1957, Sir Donald Gordon established Liberty Holdings Limited under the name "Liberty Life Association of Africa Ltd." The South African business is a financial services and real estate holding firm with its headquarters located in Johannesburg.

Currently operating in 18 African nations, the organization offers investment services, health products, and asset management to more than 3 million individuals, families, and enterprises across the continent.

Liberty feels that everyone should be able to increase their fortune and leave a legacy, which is why the company's logo, which features the Statue of Liberty, is a representation of freedom and opportunity.

FIELDS COVERED

Bursaries will be given to students pursuing an undergraduate degree in actuarial science.

BURSARY COVERAGE AND BENEFITS

The following costs will be covered by the bursary: tuition, housing, meals, and, if necessary, a travel stipend. Throughout their education, students will also have the opportunity to participate in vacation work, receive support, and network.

Students will be assured of work at Liberty following graduation.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Before applying for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following minimum admission requirements (please note that your application will not be accepted if you do not meet all the requirements):

  • You must be a citizen of South Africa, either by birth or by blood.
  • You must have finished your matriculation.
  • You must be pursuing a degree in actuarial science full-time.
  • In 2026, you must be starting your second or advanced year of study.
  • You must be enrolled in a South African university that is recognized and approved.
  • During your first year of postsecondary education, you must have maintained and attained outstanding academic standing.
  • You must have completed the Actuarial and Mathematical courses with a minimum score of 65%.
  • You need to be a capable leader.
  • Students who have taken part in extracurricular activities, such as debate teams, chess clubs, sports, or the Olympics, will have an advantage
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60%

Along with your application, send in clear copies of the following supporting material (submission of these documents is required; failure to do so may result in your application being rejected):

  • Identity document (certified copy)
  • Certificate of Matriculation (certified copy)
  • Complete transcripts and tertiary academic records (on the letterhead of the institution)
  • Evidence of any extracurricular involvement, if any
