Traxtion is calling on female students to apply for the TraxWAGON Bursary for the 2026 academic year.
The programme is aimed at empowering young women from previously disadvantaged backgrounds in Northwest, Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Gauteng.
Funding is available for studies in the following fields:
- Boiler making
- Diesel Mechanics
- Electrical Engineering
- Fitting & Turning
- Mechanical Engineering
- Supply Chain & Logistics
- Warehouse & Inventory Management
The TraxWAGON initiative was created to open doors for women in the rail sector and help build more diverse workforce for the future.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for this bursary, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be a female
- Come from a previously disadvantaged background
- Be 18-35 years old
- Live in the Northwest, Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape or Gauteng
- Be in financial need
- Be in Matric OR have completed Matric
- Have at least 60% average in final Matric results
- Be studying or planning to study full-time in one of the listed fields
- Be accepted or registered at a DHET-registered TVET College

- Proof of TVET acceptance\registration
- Proof of address
- Reference letter from a principal or lecturer
- An updated CV
All supporting documents must be submitted with the application or you may be disqualified.
