18twenty8 is a respected, women-led non-profit organization that focuses on empowering young women through education. Believing that education is a powerful tool for change, the organization runs various initiatives to help girls across the country access learning opportunities and unlock their full potential.

18twenty8 provide financial assistance and guidance to young women studying in accredited undergraduate or postgraduate programs. This support aims to help them succeed academically and grow personally.

Field of Studies

The bursary is available to female students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in any field of their choice.

What does 18twenty8 covers

The bursary may cover (depending on available donations and funding) expenses such as:

  1. tuition fees
  2. textbooks
  3. stationery
  4. a laptop
  5. monthly living allowance
  6. and accommodation

Support is provided for one academic year at a time and is not guaranteed for renewal. However, students who maintain strong academic performance throughout the year may be considered for continued funding.

Please note that the bursary does not cover costs related to graduation ceremonies or job-hunting activities.

Eligibility Requiments

Before applying, candidates must meet the following minimal standards;

  1. You have to be a South African native.
  2. You have to be a woman.
  3. You have to be between 18 and 28 years old.
  4. You must be enrolled in or planning to enrol in authorised South African higher education institutions in order to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in ANY subject.
  5. You must not be getting any additional NSFAS or bursary support.

if you don't meet them all, your application won't be taken into consideration.

How to Apply

Along with your online application, you might need to send clear copies of the following supporting papers;

  1. Profile picture
  2. A certified photo ID document that is no more than three months old
  3. Proof of registration for 2025
  4. most recent academic record
  5. The most recent fees statement
  6. Textbook quotation
  7. Statement of accommodations or lease
  8. Statement of student loan accounts, if any
  9. Two-page curriculum vitae
  10. Your video starting with an introduction that includes your name, the degree you are studying, and how receiving financial support will positively impact you. You should also mention how you intend to use your qualification to benefit others, explain why you chose to seek assistance from 18twenty8, and state the full cost of your certificate. The video should be no longer than one minute.
