The National Arts Council (NAC) strong of South Africa is a government agency that supports and promotes the development of the arts in the country. It provides funding to individual artists, arts organizations, and projects across various disciplines, including music, theatre, visual arts, literature, and dance. The NAC plays a key role in fostering creativity, preserving cultural heritage, and ensuring access to the arts for all South Africans.
The NAC South Africa International Bursary is available for South African citizens pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the arts abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen- Accepted or registered at an international tertiary institution for a full-time arts degree
- Minimum academic average of 65% (63% in exceptional cases)
- Preference given to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
Fields of Study
- Craft( various forms of crafts including textile, pottery and more)
- Dance (different dance styles and techniques)
- Literature( creative writing, poetry and other forms of literal expressions)
- Multidiscipline( interdisciplinary arts, combining multiple art forms)
- Music( music performance, composition and production)
- Theatre( acting, directing, playwriting and other aspects of theater)
- Visual Arts( painting, sculpture, photography and other visual art forms

Funding Details
- Up to R250,000 annually
- Renewable for the course duration
