ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER
Since its founding in 1997, the Cisco Foundation has collaborated with community-based groups, nonprofits, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to implement a variety of CSR initiatives.
In 2021, the Cisco Charitable Foundation Trust South Africa launched a bursary initiative to increase South African students' access to IT education.
FIELDS COVERED
Bursaries will be given for studies on these areas (NQF level 7 or NQF level 8):
- Software Engineering
- Information Technology
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Before applying, candidates must meet the following minimal standards;
- You must be a citizen of South Africa.
- You must be enrolled in classes or plan to enrol in classes to earn a degree in one of the aforementioned fields.
- You must be starting your first or fourth year of study in 2026 (fourth year students include those enrolled in honours programs [NQF level 8] and B Tech [NQF level 7]).
- To study in a private or public institution that is registered with the South African Department of Education, you must be accepted or registered.
- You need to have a solid academic background.
- You need to have a solid academic background.
- With a combined family income of between R350 000 and R600 000 annually, you must demonstrate financial necessity ("missing middle" students).
- Equity candidates will be given preference.
if you don't meet them all, your application won't be taken into consideration.

Before applying, students must read theBursary Applications Page.
Together with your online application, send in clear copies of the following supporting material:
- A clear picture of the head and shoulders
- Matric certificate and most recent Matric findings
- Complete academic history, if enrolled in classes
- Evidence of enrolment or admission in a postsecondary school
- Proof of parents' or guardians' household income (including the most recent audited financial statement, three months' worth of bank statements if they own a business, the SASSA letter stating the grants received, if applicable, or the most recent payslips if they are employed, an affidavit if they are unemployed, or an affidavit stating annual income if they are self-employed)
submitting these documents is required; failing to do so could result in your application being rejected
